Who we are

QuizCraic Junior is made by Selkware Software ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information QuizCraic Junior collects, why, and what a parent or guardian can do about it. If you have any questions or want to see, correct, or delete a child's data, contact us at info@selkware.com.

This is a children's service

QuizCraic Junior is designed for children to play. We've deliberately kept what it collects to the minimum needed to run the game: there's no real name, no date of birth, no photo, no third-party sign-in (Google/Facebook, etc.), no advertising, no in-app purchases, and no third-party analytics or tracking scripts of any kind. Everything in QuizCraic Junior is free.

What we collect

  • A nickname the player picks — not their real name.
  • A 4-digit PIN, stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash.
  • An age group (6–8, 9–11 or 12–15), not a birthdate.
  • A sport and team choice (GAA, AFL, or Rugby, and a team within it). GAA players can also pick a club, set their own colours for clubs, and have the club titles they win in the game saved.
  • Optional club colour suggestions. If a player ticks "Suggest these colours for everyone", the colours and their nickname are shown to us to check; only colours we approve are shown to other players, and never with the nickname.
  • An optional parent/guardian email address, used only for getting back into the profile: we email a code to confirm it, and — only when someone asks — a code to reset a forgotten PIN or a reminder of the nickname. It is encrypted before storage and never shown to anyone.
  • Quiz results and gameplay history (scores, categories played, badges earned).
  • Basic technical data any website/app receives automatically — not linked to a player profile.

Why we use it

Each piece of information is used only to run the specific part of the game it belongs to. None of it is used for advertising, profiling, or sold or rented to anyone.

How we protect it

  • PINs are never stored in plain text — only a salted, one-way hash (PBKDF2).
  • A parent/guardian email address is encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) with the key kept separately.
  • Repeated wrong PIN attempts temporarily lock an account.

Where it's stored

QuizCraic's database is hosted with Supabase in the EU, so this data stays within the EU.

Who we share it with

Nobody outside the infrastructure needed to run QuizCraic itself. Recovery emails are sent through Resend, an email-sending service, which receives only the email address and the message. We don't share or sell data.

How long we keep it

We don't currently have a fixed automatic deletion schedule — an account's data is kept while the account is in use. You can delete a profile yourself at any time in Settings → "Delete my profile" (the profile's PIN is needed). This immediately and permanently removes the profile and all of its game history, scores, progress and parent/guardian email from our servers and from that device. You can also contact us to ask for an account to be deleted.

On this device

QuizCraic Junior remembers a signed-in profile on this device using local storage, so you don't have to sign in again every visit. Clearing the app's data removes that.

Your rights

Under GDPR, a parent or guardian can ask, on their child's behalf, to: see what data we hold, correct it, have it deleted, restrict how it's used, object to its use, or receive a copy of it. Contact info@selkware.com for any of these. You can also complain to your local data protection authority if unhappy with how we've handled a request.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page and in the app.
